Ginza Nagaoka at Okada Manila has once again earned a place in the MICHELIN Guide Manila and Environs & Cebu 2027, retaining its MICHELIN Selected recognition for the second consecutive year. The distinction highlights the restaurant’s intimate omakase experience, where just 10 guests can watch Chef Junji Nagaoka prepare each course while discovering the traditions and craftsmanship behind Japanese sushi.
Following its inclusion in the MICHELIN Guide’s inaugural Philippine edition, Ginza Nagaoka’s continued recognition was announced during the October 29 ceremony. The restaurant’s omakase brings together seasonal ingredients sourced from Japan, traditional Edomae techniques, and attentive service tailored to each guest seated at the counter.
“Receiving this recognition for a second year is an honor for our whole team,” said Chef Junji Nagaoka. “At our counter, guests can see the care behind each piece of sushi and discover the ingredients and traditions that shape it. We want them to taste the season, feel welcome, and leave with a deeper appreciation of Japanese dining.”
The Craft Behind the Counter
Specializing in Edomae sushi, a traditional style that originated in Tokyo, Ginza Nagaoka places emphasis on carefully prepared seafood and vinegared rice. Every piece reflects a thoughtful balance of seasoning, temperature, and technique, with a changing selection of seasonal Japanese ingredients offering returning diners new flavors and textures throughout the year.
With only 10 seats, the sushi counter gives guests an up-close view of Chef Junji’s work. From seafood preparation to the finishing of each piece, diners can observe the craftsmanship firsthand, learn about the ingredients, and engage with the chef as the meal unfolds.
The intimate setting also allows for a more personal approach to hospitality. Guided by the lessons of his mentors, Chef Junji pays attention to each guest’s preferences and reactions, adjusting the pace of service and conversation to create a comfortable dining experience. At Ginza Nagaoka, culinary precision and genuine human connection come together at the counter.
Japanese Dining Within a World of Flavors
“Chef Junji and his team show how a highly personal dining experience can help define a destination,” said Nobuki Sato, President and Chief Operating Officer of Okada Manila. “Their continued MICHELIN Selected recognition reflects the consistency and care they bring to every service. We will continue to support chefs who preserve culinary traditions and give guests compelling reasons to dine at Okada Manila and visit the Philippines.”
Ginza Nagaoka’s recognition further strengthens Okada Manila’s dining campaign, THE WORLD’S BEST FLAVORS IN ONE DESTINATION. With more than 40 dining venues across the resort, guests can explore signature restaurants, international cuisines, and casual dining options. Ginza Nagaoka adds a distinctive, chef-led experience rooted in Japanese culinary heritage to the destination’s diverse dining scene.
