Multi-awarded Kapamilya actor John Arcilla marks his birthday with the release of his new single, “Ano Ba ‘Yan, P*nyeta,” now available on digital music platforms under Star Music.
Written by Arcilla in March 2025, the song was inspired by the noise, tension, and frustrations surrounding everyday life. Through the track, the veteran actor hopes to give listeners a sense of catharsis while encouraging empathy and understanding.
“Ang daming nagagalit na tao sa mga nangyayari sa paligid natin. Kailangan natin ng isang kanta na may catharsis, yung mailabas ng tao yung sama niya ng loob,” Arcilla shared.
Known for delivering the iconic “P*nyeta” line in the acclaimed film Heneral Luna, Arcilla said the song also carries a message about listening to one another despite differences.
“Masyado na tayong maingay bilang isang bansa pero ‘di tayo nagkakasundo. Parang kailangan natin ng release para mabawasan man lang ‘yon and then sana makinig tayo sa isa’t isa,” he added.
While Arcilla has previously performed ballads, rock, and opera songs, “Ano Ba ‘Yan, P*nyeta” marks his first venture into the blues genre.
Initially expecting the composition to become a ballad, Arcilla was pleasantly surprised when the arrangement took a blues direction.
Coinciding with the single’s release, its official music video also premiered on the ABS-CBN Star Music YouTube channel. The video features Jeremiah Lisbo, Karina Bautista, and content creator Christian Antolin.
