Access to quality learning materials plays a vital role in helping students succeed in school. For visually impaired learners, specialized educational resources are essential in ensuring they receive inclusive and meaningful learning opportunities.

Recognizing this need, SEC-registered fintech company Skyro, through its corporate social responsibility initiative SkyroShares, recently conducted a Back-to-School outreach program at the Philippine National School for the Blind (PNSB) in Pasay City.

The initiative benefited more than 170 participants, including elementary to senior high school students, learners with multiple disabilities, dormitory residents from low-income and provincial communities, and teachers.

The program opened with a message from Skyro Co-founder and Co-CEO Nasim Aliev, who emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting education.

“One of the things that we’re doing today is part of the whole work that should come from our side to support changes in society. Education is one of the most important things because it gives people more tools in life to sustain themselves. Edukasyon ay buhay. I would like to thank you for accepting us,” Aliev said.

Skyro Chief Operating Officer Ira Franco also underscored that creating positive social impact is an important part of the company’s mission.

“Narito kami hindi lamang para magbahagi kundi para makibahagi. Nais naming matuto mula sa inyo, makilala kayo, at ipagdiwang ang inyong mga tagumpay,” Franco said.

The outreach featured dance and musical performances by students, interactive games, food pack distribution, and the turnover of school supplies and educational equipment.

Students who are partially or completely blind received backpacks filled with specialized learning tools such as Braille paper and slate-and-stylus sets, along with notebooks, pens, crayons, and other essential school supplies. Dormitory residents also received hygiene kits and food essentials.

Teachers, meanwhile, were provided with classroom resources including a printer with ink, embossing paper, bond paper, and wall fans to help support daily instruction.

Skyro also donated several pieces of equipment to the school, including a portable Braille embossing machine, Braille staplers, drum and lyre sets, industrial fans, a refrigerator for the dormitory, and a speaker system with a wireless microphone.

Philippine National School for the Blind Principal Corazon Salvador expressed her gratitude for the assistance.

“We are deeply grateful for your generosity. Your support goes beyond the items you donate. It sends a powerful message to our children that they are valued, remembered, and capable of achieving their dreams. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our learners,” Salvador said.

Through its SkyroShares program, Skyro continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting Filipino communities through education, financial literacy, and community development initiatives, helping create more inclusive opportunities for learners across the country.
