Far Eastern University (FEU) and the UCLA Joe C. Wen College of Nursing are moving forward with plans to implement advanced simulation pedagogy at both institutions. This progression follows formal discussions in the US involving FEU Nursing Dean Dr. Moira Uy, UCLA Dean Dr. Lin Zhan, and FEU Associate Department Chair for Simulation Neugene Cu.

The collaboration was significantly facilitated by Dr. Emma Cuenca, the pre-licensure program director at UCLA and an alumna of FEU Nursing. Dr. Zhan credited Cuenca for helping to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which was executed in July 2023. This MOU aims to advance simulation pedagogy through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the pursuit of excellence in nursing education.

Furthering this partnership, FEU’s Neugene Cu completed an intensive three-day training at the UCLA Simulation Center. This training certified him as a UCLA-trained and certified Global Simulation partner, allowing him to lead FEU’s Virtual Integrated Nursing Education Simulation programs, which are recognized as being comparable to those at UCLA. The Felicidad D. Elegado Endowment program, a project of the FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation USA, Inc., supported Cu’s training.
