Getting home with friends just got easier and more affordable as Grab Philippines upgrades GrabCar Group Ride, allowing passengers to split fares automatically and save up to 50% compared with booking a solo ride.
The feature lets a ride host share one GrabCar with up to two friends, with as many as three drop-off points along the way. The app displays each passenger’s share upfront, eliminating the guesswork and awkward conversations about how much everyone owes after the trip.
For frequent ride buddies, GrabCar Group Ride also allows users to save their usual groups and preferred pickup and drop-off locations, making repeat bookings quicker and more convenient. The feature is particularly useful for officemates heading in the same direction after work or friends sharing a ride home after a night out.
A Nostalgic Twist On Sharing More For Less
To introduce the upgrade, Grab released an online video inspired by the catchy shampoo jingles that became popular in the 2000s. The campaign highlights the convenience of the feature through the concept of “GrabCar 3-in-1”: three passengers, one booking.
Drawing a playful parallel with the familiar 3-in-1 shampoo sachet, the campaign celebrates the idea of getting more for less. By sharing a ride with friends, commuters can enjoy savings while making the journey home more enjoyable.
“Filipino commuters are resourceful. They’re always finding smarter ways to make every trip with friends or colleagues more efficient and more affordable. As a committed partner to every commuter, Grab makes sure our platform keeps up with these everyday habits. ‘Hati-hati’ has always been part of how we move together, and it’s about more than splitting costs. It’s about looking out for one another. With GrabCar Group Ride, we’re building on that spirit so that getting around together becomes the easier, more attainable choice for more Filipinos,” said Bea Bravo, Grab Philippines Country Marketing Head.
