OPPO has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining the company’s progress in integrating sustainability across its products, operations, and corporate strategy as it expands its presence to more than 90 countries and regions worldwide.
The report details OPPO’s sustainability framework built around five pillars: Operations and Compliance, Environmental Protection, Caring for Employees, Virtuous Innovation, and Ecosystem Engagement. Through these initiatives, the company aims to promote responsible business practices while driving innovation and long-term growth.
Greener products and lower-carbon operations
As part of its environmental efforts, OPPO continues to incorporate sustainability throughout product development, manufacturing, and supply chain operations.
In 2025, the company completed product life cycle assessments (LCAs) for 23 smartphone models to evaluate environmental impacts from raw material sourcing to end-of-life recycling. The assessments are intended to support the development of more environmentally friendly smartphone designs.
OPPO also expanded the use of sustainable packaging materials. Recycled wastepaper accounted for approximately 43% of smartphone packaging materials during the year. In Europe, the company began replacing conventional plastic packaging with paper-plastic alternatives made from plant fibers and recycled paper, representing around 14% of packaging materials used in the region.
The company also reported continued progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon emissions from its own operations declined by 1.22% year over year, while Scope 3 emissions across 11 major categories fell by 2.57%. Renewable electricity usage across OPPO’s manufacturing facilities increased by nearly 70%, supporting its broader carbon reduction goals.
Accessibility and health innovation
Under its “Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World” mission, OPPO continues to develop technologies that improve accessibility and promote healthier lifestyles.
By the end of 2025, the company had accumulated 118,000 patent applications and secured 66,000 patent grants worldwide.
OPPO further enhanced accessibility features within ColorOS by optimizing more than 30 core applications for users with visual, hearing, and motor impairments. Features such as TalkBack, Image Description, speech-to-text transcription, flash alerts, screen magnification, color correction, and color inversion aim to make smartphones more inclusive for a wider range of users.
The company also strengthened its investment in digital health through the opening of the OPPO Fitness Health Laboratory in Binhaiwan, now its largest sports and health research facility globally. The laboratory focuses on exercise science, cardiovascular health, sleep, lifestyle management, cognitive wellness, weight management, blood pressure monitoring, and AI-powered health solutions.
Supporting education and cultural preservation
Beyond its environmental initiatives, OPPO expanded its social impact efforts through partnerships focused on education, cultural preservation, and community development.
In 2025, the company contributed more than RMB37 million to public welfare initiatives worldwide.
For the second consecutive year, OPPO collaborated with Discovery Channel on the “Culture in a Shot” campaign, encouraging mobile photography that celebrates cultural diversity and traditional festivals across 15 countries.
OPPO also deepened its partnership with UNESCO by donating 1,000 tablets to support information technology education in schools across Asia and Africa. The devices are being used to improve computer programming education in Thailand and expand digital learning opportunities in African communities where access to technology remains limited.
Meanwhile, the company’s partnership with UEFA continued through sports development and community programs launched across Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America to support local talent and promote wider participation in sports.
Continuing long-term sustainability goals
OPPO said it will continue investing in innovation, sustainable operations, and collaborative partnerships as part of its long-term commitment to creating products that benefit consumers while contributing to a more sustainable future.
The company noted that sustainability will remain a core component of its business strategy as it continues expanding its global footprint.
