Groq, a global leader in AI inference, has expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with a new deployment at Equinix’s International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center in Sydney. Following earlier launches in the US and EMEA, this move brings Groq’s fast, cost-efficient, and scalable LPU Inference Engine closer to organizations and public sector clients in the Philippines and the wider Asia-Pacific.
The Sydney facility, powered by 4.5MW of Groq technology, delivers up to five times faster and more affordable compute performance than traditional GPUs and hyperscaler clouds. Through Equinix Fabric®, a software-defined interconnection service, businesses can securely access GroqCloud™ with low latency, high speed, and full compliance, enabling seamless production AI workloads.
“With Asia-Pacific as a key growth market, our Sydney deployment brings high-performance AI inference closer to developers while supporting data sovereignty and privacy,” said Scott Albin, General Manager, APAC, Groq. Jonathan Ross, CEO and Founder of Groq, added, “The world doesn’t have enough compute for everyone to build AI. That’s why we’re expanding access, starting in Australia.”
The launch comes amid strong regional AI adoption. IDC projects AI and Generative AI spending in Asia-Pacific will reach US$110 billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 24%. By combining Groq’s inference technology with Equinix’s global infrastructure, organizations can scale AI workloads efficiently while maintaining speed and cost-effectiveness.

Cliff Obrecht, Co-Founder of Canva, noted, “Australia’s growing strength in AI infrastructure will empower millions to bring ideas to life in entirely new ways.” Cyrus Adaggra, President, Asia-Pacific, Equinix, emphasized that the partnership provides a high-performance, globally connected gateway for enterprise AI workflows.
Groq’s LPU Inference Engine, purpose-built for AI, delivers unmatched throughput and energy efficiency, while enterprises can access GroqCloud or choose cloud and on-premise AI deployments.
