Chatrium Grand Bangkok has successfully concluded the second edition of the Écailler Oyster Competition 2026, one of the highlights of The Oyster World Cup Gastronomy Series 2026, reinforcing its reputation as a premier luxury gastronomy destination in Thailand.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s Oyster World Cup Gastronomy Series transformed the hotel into a hub for international culinary excellence throughout June and July. The eight-week festival welcomed Michelin-starred chefs, world oyster opening champions, acclaimed mixologists, culinary experts, and premium producers from more than eight countries for a celebration of craftsmanship, innovation, and global food culture.

Organized in partnership with France Écaille, Disciples Escoffier Thailand, and EDELWEISS, the Écailler Oyster Competition was created to raise professional oyster-opening standards in Thailand while giving the champion the opportunity to further develop their skills through an exclusive educational trip to France.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including French Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Business France Thailand Director Jérôme Desquiens, Jagota Brothers Trading Co., Ltd. Director of Business Development Gopal Jagota, and Chatrium Grand Bangkok General Manager Stacey James Walton.

Chef Pong (Chanwit Sae-lee) of Chatrium Grand Bangkok emerged as this year’s champion after impressing the judges with his technical skills, precision, and presentation. His victory earns him the opportunity to represent Thailand through a professional learning experience in France, where he will further enhance his expertise alongside internationally recognized oyster specialists.

Chef Yee (Phansa Khumbun) of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit secured first runner-up honors, while Chef Kla (Kajornyot Jongraktrakul) of The Standard Bangkok finished as second runner-up.

Beyond speed and technique, the competition evaluated contestants on culinary creativity, presentation, and storytelling, highlighting the growing talent of Thai culinary professionals and the country’s expanding presence in the global gastronomy scene.

The festival also featured an exclusive Oyster Masterclass led by Adrien Geay, owner of Geay Oyster in France. Participants gained firsthand knowledge on selecting, opening, serving, and appreciating premium oysters directly from one of France’s respected oyster producers.

Chatrium Grand Bangkok also recognized the support of its partners, including Jagota, Trip.com, The Mall Group, France Écaille, Disciples Escoffier Thailand, and EDELWEISS, for helping stage the international event.

More than a culinary competition, The Oyster World Cup Gastronomy Series 2026 brought together chefs, industry professionals, and food enthusiasts through a shared passion for gastronomy, luxury hospitality, and cultural exchange. Through the event, Chatrium Grand Bangkok continues to strengthen its position as one of Bangkok’s leading culinary destinations while staying true to its brand promise, “Feel the Remarkable.”
