The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) has partnered with GCash to introduce digital payment and disbursement services across its more than 20 campuses nationwide beginning School Year 2026–2027.
The initiative will allow students to pay school-related fees and receive scholarships and financial assistance through GCash, making transactions faster, safer, and more convenient.
The partnership was formally launched at PUP’s main campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila, led by PUP President Dr. Manuel “Bong” Muhi, Executive Vice President for Planning and Finance Alberto C. Guillo, and Funds Management Office Director Catherine “Cathy” Oposa.
Under the agreement, students will be able to use GCash for scan-to-pay transactions across all campuses, make online payments through the university’s digital platforms, and settle Open University and certification fees through GBills. In addition, 5,000 GCash cards will be distributed to scholars, athletes, and student representatives to facilitate cashless scholarship and financial aid disbursements.
Serving more than 106,500 students, PUP is the country’s largest state university and has continued to strengthen its digital transformation efforts through centralized systems and technology-driven services.
“Through this partnership, the PUP community will benefit from accessible digital financial services such as Scan-to-Pay, Bills Payment, Mobile Payment Solutions, and Fund Disbursement Services, promoting faster, safer, and more convenient transactions for the Iskolar ng Bayan,” said PUP President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi.
GCash Head of B2B Sales Cleo Celeste Santos said the collaboration supports both accessibility and financial inclusion among students.
“Partnering with PUP is a meaningful step in helping make digital financial services more accessible to students across the country. Through this collaboration, we hope to support the university’s commitment to innovation by providing solutions that make payments and financial assistance disbursements faster, safer, and more convenient for the entire PUP community,” Santos said.
The partnership aims to reduce long queues, minimize paperwork, and streamline access to campus services, while helping students become more familiar with digital financial tools.
