Award-winning Filipino songwriter and producer Jonathan Manalo has reached a major career milestone, surpassing 10 billion all-time streams across digital platforms, a testament to the enduring popularity of his music and its lasting impact on generations of Filipino listeners.
According to Muso AI data as of June 25, Manalo has accumulated more than 10.2 billion streams across Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and other digital platforms, driven by a catalog of songs that have become staples in OPM, film soundtracks, television dramas, and digital series.
Reflecting on the achievement, Manalo expressed gratitude to the listeners who have supported his music throughout the years.
“It’s a number I’m deeply grateful for, but more than a milestone, it’s a reminder of the incredible journey that music can take. Every stream represents a listener who connected with a song, a story, a melody, or a moment that meant something to them,” he said.
Currently serving as Head of Creatives, Content, and Operations at ABS-CBN Music and as a Recording Academy voting member, Manalo has written and produced songs for some of the country’s biggest artists, including Gary Valenciano, Lea Salonga, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Lani Misalucha, Sarah Geronimo, Kyla, Erik Santos, Ebe Dancel, Yeng Constantino, Angeline Quinto, Jona, Moira Dela Torre, SB19, BINI, BGYO, and many others.
The milestone also reflects the continued popularity of original soundtracks from Filipino films, television dramas, and digital series, with many of Manalo’s compositions continuing to find new audiences through streaming platforms while remaining part of the country’s musical landscape.
Fresh from celebrating the streaming milestone, Manalo also welcomed the Recording Academy’s introduction of the GRAMMY Award for Best Asian Pop Music Performance, describing it as a significant step forward for artists across the region.
“Asia is home to some of the world’s most vibrant music cultures, and this recognition reflects the growing impact of Asian artists, songwriters, producers, and creatives as active participants in the global music community,” he said.
He added that the new category presents greater opportunities for Filipino musicians to gain international recognition.
“For Filipino artists especially, this is an encouraging step forward. Filipino music has always been rich in talent, storytelling, and artistry. As we continue to engage with and contribute to the global music landscape, opportunities like these help shine a brighter spotlight on the music excellence coming from the Philippines and across Asia.”
Throughout his career, Manalo has penned and produced numerous OPM hits, including “Tara Tena,” “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,” “Pagbigyang Muli,” “Patuloy Ang Pangarap,” and “Pinoy Ako.” Beyond his own compositions, he has played a key role in shaping the music catalogs of several Filipino artists, including Angeline Quinto, Erik Santos, Kyla, Ice Seguerra, Morissette, and Moira Dela Torre, cementing his place as one of the country’s most influential music producers and songwriters.
