The Langham Hotels and Resorts continued its celebration of music and the arts with the second event in its global “Luminaries in Residence” series, held on September 30, 2026, at the private Manhattan residence of Grammy Award-winning violinist and Langham Luminary Joshua Bell CBE and soprano Larisa Martínez.

The intimate gathering welcomed more than 80 guests for an evening highlighting artistic excellence and The Langham’s longstanding connection with the arts. Bell and Martínez were joined by acclaimed pianist Peter Dugan for a specially curated performance, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience their artistry up close.

Among those in attendance were musicians A$AP Ferg, Luke James, and Stella Cole; fashion figure Ubah Hassan; and MONSE co-founders Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. Business leaders included Jack Ezon, founder of Embark Beyond; David Israelite, president and CEO of the National Music Publishers Association; and Pete Muller, founder of PDT Partners, alongside other notable artists, industry leaders, and partners of The Langham.

“Music and the arts have been part of The Langham’s story for more than 160 years,” said Bob van den Oord, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group (LHG). He noted that the “Luminaries in Residence” series brings this legacy into the present by creating distinctive experiences that foster meaningful connections between guests and the artistry of its Luminaries. He described the evening with Bell as “personal, authentic and inspiring.”

A Celebrated Career In Classical Music

With a career spanning more than four decades, Bell has become one of the most celebrated violinists of his generation. The Grammy Award-winning musician has performed with leading orchestras worldwide and regularly appears as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and conductor.

Bell was named a Langham Luminary in 2025 as part of the group’s award-winning “Your Story. Our Legacy.” campaign. The recognition celebrates his distinguished career, which includes iconic international performances, acclaimed recordings, collaborations with leading artists and composers, and a lifelong commitment to making classical music more accessible to wider audiences.

His participation in the New York gathering reflects The Langham’s continued commitment to creating meaningful cultural experiences that bring guests closer to celebrated artists and their work.

Continuing A Global Celebration Of The Arts

The New York performance marked the second event in the “Luminaries in Residence” series, following the launch of “The Artistry of Ayanga” photo exhibition at The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi, in August 2026.

The series will continue in London on November 19, 2026, when Bell will join the acclaimed Academy of St Martin in the Fields for a special performance and gala at The Langham, London. Bell has served as the orchestra’s music director since 2011.

Through “Luminaries in Residence,” The Langham continues to celebrate the people and creative pursuits that shape its legacy, bringing together hospitality, music, and artistic expression through distinctive experiences in some of the world’s most celebrated destinations.
