Okada Manila has earned the Forbes Travel Guide VERIFIED™ Responsible Hospitality badge for the second consecutive year, reinforcing its commitment to integrating sustainability, employee well-being, and community support into its luxury hospitality experience.

The 30-hectare integrated resort was the first in the Philippines to receive the distinction in 2025. According to Forbes Travel Guide, 412 hotels worldwide currently hold the badge, including four properties in the Philippines. The recognition is based on more than 100 standards covering environmental protection, resource conservation, employee welfare, guest safety, community engagement, and responsible operating practices.

“Responsible hospitality is not separate from luxury—it is an integral part of how we define excellence at Okada Manila,” said Nobuki Sato, President and Chief Operating Officer of Okada Manila. He added that the achievement reflects the dedication of team members who help deliver exceptional guest experiences while creating positive impacts for the environment and surrounding communities.

Sustainability Across The Guest Experience

Through Okada Green Heart, its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework, the resort integrates responsible practices across accommodation, dining, entertainment, wellness, retail, and other operations.

One major initiative is its sewage treatment plant, which processes approximately 2,217 cubic meters of wastewater daily. Treated water is reused to irrigate 9.3 hectares of external grounds and supply cooling towers supporting the resort’s air-conditioning systems.

Responsible choices are also incorporated into the guest journey through digital registration, wooden key cards, glass water bottles, in-room tablets, and smart lighting and climate-control systems designed to support resource efficiency while maintaining guest comfort.

Extending Impact Beyond The Resort

Okada Manila also works with Scholars of Sustenance Philippines to redistribute surplus food from selected buffet and banquet operations. As of July 2026, the partnership had rescued and donated 1,614 kilograms of food, equivalent to 6,773 meals.

In October 2025, the resort introduced sugarcane-based food containers through partnerships with SECAED Global Enterprise and EcoNest. It subsequently used 105,300 containers as alternatives to conventional plastic food packaging.

Employee welfare remains another focus. In 2026, the resort’s flu vaccination program reached 2,664 team members, while a four-day PhilHealth YAKAP Caravan served 1,549 team members. Monthly Wellness Wednesdays sessions further encourage physical activity and mental well-being.

Through Okada Green Heart’s six pillars—Waste Management, Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Talent and Community, Safety, Security and Welfare, and Responsible Gaming—the resort continues to translate its ESG commitments into measurable initiatives across its operations.
