Davao-based girl group DAELUX is introducing its distinct brand of P-Pop with “Like That,” the seven-member group’s first release under Sony Music Entertainment.
The upbeat pop track captures the excitement, uncertainty, and overthinking that often come with developing feelings for someone. With playful lyrics and bouncy production, “Like That” explores the familiar question of whether the person you like feels the same way.
“We were drawn to this theme because the feeling of liking someone and trying to figure out where you stand is something a lot of people can relate to,” DAELUX shares. “There’s excitement, but there’s also that uncertainty when you start overthinking little actions.”
Rather than dwelling on the confusion, the song approaches young love with optimism and encourages listeners to be honest about their emotions while remembering their own worth.
Finding DAELUX’s Sound
Produced by Pao Lofranco with AndreaH as co-writer, “Like That” also features creative input from the members, who worked through multiple revisions with the production team and label to make the final arrangement feel authentic to the group.
Vocal arrangements were developed with the help of their vocal coach, Ma’am Shelley, who also distributed the vocal parts to highlight the individual qualities of each member.
“While recording, we tried to bring ourselves back to a younger and more innocent feeling—when you’re still a little unsure and inexperienced when it comes to love,” the group says. “We think that helped give the song its bright, playful, and youthful feel.”
The track also introduces DAELUX’s broader sonic identity, balancing its free-spirited energy with a softer, more emotional side as the members explore themes of relationships, self-expression, and growing into themselves.
A Homegrown P-Pop Story
DAELUX is composed of seven members—CK, Alice, Ara, Rhya, Slane, Zyra, and Riri—all hailing from Davao. The group’s creative team, including those behind its music and performance video, also comes from the city, creating a homegrown creative ecosystem that has helped shape DAELUX’s sound and visual identity.
“Being part of Sony Music is a huge opportunity for us,” the group shares. “It gives us the chance to learn, grow, and take our music more seriously as artists. Working with them has also encouraged us to think bigger while still staying true to who DAELUX is.”
With “Like That,” DAELUX begins a new chapter as it brings its Davao roots and youthful P-Pop sound to a wider audience. The single is now available worldwide on all major digital platforms via Sony Music Entertainment.
