Sony Music Philippines marked a major night at the 39th Awit Awards, taking home 11 honors across several major categories at the ceremony held on September 15 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Leading the label’s wins was IV OF SPADES, whose acclaimed album Andalucia was named Album of the Year. The band also took home Song of the Year for “Aura,” while “Monster” won Best Sound Engineered Recording. Fresh from their Album of the Year victory, IV OF SPADES closed the ceremony with a three-song performance featuring their latest single “Isang Pag-Ibig,” “Kabisado,” and award-winning track “Aura.”
Celebrating Filipino Music And Creativity
SB19 also had a standout evening, with “DUNGKA!” winning Best Pop Recording, Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and Best Music Video. Meanwhile, Ben&Ben earned two awards for “Saranggola,” winning Best Performance by a Group and Best Musical Arrangement, ahead of the release of their first anthology album, Nine.
Producer Brian Lotho was named Producer of the Year, recognized for his work on tracks from IV OF SPADES’ Andalucia, as well as nominated recordings by dwta and the James Reid and TJ Monterde collaboration “Pahinga.”
Other Sony Music Philippines winners included John Paulo Nase (PABLO of SB19 / RADKIDZ), who received Songwriter of the Year for his work on SB19’s Simula At Wakas, and YARA and Nateman, who won Best Remix Recording for “Sabi Ko Na (Remix).”
Beyond the awards, Sony Music Philippines artists also brought their music to the stage, with Marina Summers performing “Walang Kaba.”
The 39th Awit Awards, presented by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry Inc. (PARI), celebrated artists, creators, and works contributing to the evolving sound of Philippine music.
