Montblanc continues its tribute to legendary soprano Maria Callas, known as “La Divina,” with a second chapter of its special edition writing instrument inspired by the artist’s extraordinary talent, elegance, and passion for beauty.
Following the launch of the Montblanc Maria Callas Special Edition in 2023 in a vibrant turquoise colorway inspired by Callas’s Greek heritage and one of her favorite colors, the Maison now introduces a rich ruby-inspired version.
The new edition draws from Callas’s celebrated love of fine jewelry, particularly her collection of luxurious ruby pieces. Its ruby-colored precious resin cap and barrel are complemented by a slender silhouette that reflects the soprano’s graceful elegance.
Inspired by an Operatic Legend
Born in 1923 in New York City to Greek parents, Callas studied music in Athens before making her professional debut there. Her international career began in Verona in 1947, followed by performances in Venice and Florence, where she took on the title role of Bellini’s Norma—a character that would become one of her signature roles.
Callas later made her highly anticipated debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1956, appearing on the cover of Time magazine to mark the occasion. Throughout her career, she became renowned for her remarkable vocal range, dramatic performances, and ability to bring new depth to the bel canto repertoire.

The new Montblanc edition incorporates several elements that pay tribute to Callas’s iconic career and personal style.
A laurel leaf pattern surrounds the platinum-coated cone, referencing her celebrated portrayal of Norma and the iconic imagery associated with her performance of the famous “Casta Diva” aria. Her signature is also embossed on the design.
The handcrafted, rhodium-coated solid Au 585/1000 gold nib features details inspired by Callas’s signature appearance, including her distinctive cat-eye makeup and dark eyebrows, alongside her unforgettable nickname, “La Divina.”
The clip features a ruby-colored synthetic stone as another nod to her love of ruby jewelry. Its petal-inspired shape also references a rose named after Callas in 1965.
The rose motif continues onto the accompanying notebook, which features ruby-colored leather covers decorated with a floral design.
Nearly five decades after her passing in 1977, Maria Callas continues to captivate audiences through her recordings, artistry, and enduring influence on music and fashion.
