Smart Communications, Inc. is reinforcing its commitment to digital literacy and online safety through Smart Customer Day, an initiative that combines customer appreciation with practical learning to help Filipinos navigate the digital world more safely.

Held at the Smart Store in SM North EDSA Cyberzone, the event went beyond showcasing connectivity services by focusing on responsible digital behavior, scam awareness, and emerging technologies.

Smart Customer Day celebrates subscribers’ continued trust in the network while offering exclusive promotions on devices and mobile services alongside interactive activities designed to educate and empower customers.

Promoting safer online habits

A key feature of the event was Smart’s SCAMpaign, an initiative that raises awareness about evolving online threats and equips subscribers with practical skills to recognize, avoid, and report scams.

Participants also learned about responsible digital payment practices, including protecting financial information, adopting safe cashless transactions, and making secure online payments.

“This initiative reflects Smart’s broader commitment in ensuring that customers are not only connected but also protected and empowered,” said Brenda M. Dichoso, First Vice President for Customer Experience at Smart.

“We hope that through Smart Customer Day, they can have fun and learn skills that can help them maximize the use of their mobile devices and safely navigate the online world,” she added.

Staying vigilant in the digital age

Event host, content creator, and Smart brand ambassador Sam YG emphasized the importance of critical thinking and responsible technology use amid the growing spread of online scams and misinformation.

“Ang daming scams, fake news, so it’s also good to have these events so that we could properly discuss how to use this privilege, this power properly,” he said.

“Inasmuch as we are blessed with technology, it’s very important to be vigilant, to check if what we’ve digested is actually true, or baka fake news or scam. While tech is improving, scams are also improving.”

Guests also experienced emerging technology through demonstrations of Rokid augmented reality glasses, showcasing how AR can enhance productivity, collaboration, and everyday digital experiences.

Subscribers share positive experiences

Long-time Smart subscribers highlighted the importance of reliable connectivity and customer support in their daily lives.

“We won’t be staying with Smart for 30 years if we’re not getting the right services. We feel valued as customers,” said subscriber Jackie Rose Caez, noting that dependable connectivity supports her family’s work-from-home and online learning needs.

Meanwhile, Jose B. Montalbo Jr., who frequently travels for work, said Smart’s network reliability remains one of the reasons he continues to subscribe.

“That’s exactly the reason why I stick with Smart. Mas maganda ang signal sa probinsya, you have promos na swak na swak,” he said.

Strengthening digital literacy nationwide

According to Lloyd R. Manaloto, First Vice President and co-Officer-in-Charge at Smart, the initiative reflects the company’s broader commitment to supporting customers beyond mobile connectivity.

“At Smart, we go beyond connectivity by listening to our customers and equipping them with the knowledge to stay safe, informed, and confident in the digital space,” Manaloto said.

From scam awareness and social media tips to hands-on technology demonstrations, Smart Customer Day highlighted how digital connectivity can empower everyday life while promoting responsible online participation.

Smart said more Customer Day events are scheduled nationwide as part of its continuing efforts to provide subscribers with reliable mobile services, practical digital skills, and meaningful customer experiences.
