CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES — AppleOne Medical Group (AMG), the healthcare arm of Cebu-based developer AppleOne Group, is broadening its presence across Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin), bringing advanced medical care closer to home.

By applying the same world-class service standards that have earned its hospitality properties international recognition, AppleOne is building a medical system designed to reduce — and ultimately eliminate — the need for patients to travel to Manila for specialized treatment.

From Hospitality to Healthcare

While hospitals and hospitality may seem worlds apart, both share a foundation of exceptional service. AMG is among the first in the Philippines to bring this convergence to life, applying a guest-centric approach to hospital operations.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to elevating the standard of living in VisMin—through the places we build, the experiences we offer, and now, through the care we deliver,” said Ray Go Manigsaca, President and CEO of AppleOne Group. “When we established AMG in 2020, it was a leap of faith during the pandemic, guided by our purpose to bring world-class healthcare closer to home.”

AMG’s Growing Footprint in VisMin

VisayasMed Hospital, Cebu – Serving Cebu since 1952, VisayasMed addresses regional gaps in advanced diagnostics and cancer care. Partnering with Singapore Diagnostics, it operates a high-capacity laboratory capable of up to 1,000 daily tests previously only available in Manila. The Singapore Cancer Center Inc., located within VisayasMed, is the first ESMO-certified oncology facility in the Philippines, offering precision diagnostics and personalized treatment.

United Shalom Hospital, Tacloban – This pre-WWII, eco-conscious facility brings sustainable healthcare to Eastern Visayas, where communities have long traveled far for basic medical services. With 100 beds and planned ICU and NICU units, United Shalom addresses critical gaps in maternal and emergency care for underserved areas.

Brokenshire Medical Center, Davao – Founded in 1917, Brokenshire is closing Mindanao’s gap in tertiary and specialized care. Its Heart Institute, Chemotherapy Center, Stroke Unit, and CANDEV center (the first hospital-based multidisciplinary center for children with special needs) address regional cardiovascular and neurological needs. Brokenshire is also the first in Mindanao to offer Hybrid Endolap Surgery with Spyglass, laser lithotripsy, and Indocyanin green capability, and the first in Asia to install a Dräger Atlan ceiling-mounted anesthesia machine.

Expanding Access and Impact

Beyond infrastructure, AMG works with top-tier medical professionals and local stakeholders to strengthen healthcare systems across VisMin. Long-term plans include a hub-and-spoke healthcare model, featuring satellite outpatient centers and primary care facilities within a 50-kilometer radius of its flagship hospitals. This model is designed to improve access to quality healthcare, particularly for underserved communities.

“This is just the beginning,” Manigsaca said. “Our vision is not just to develop hospitals, but to cultivate a system where competent and compassionate healthcare is the standard, not the exception.”
