The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Ant International are deepening their partnership to accelerate digital transformation for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide. Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Ant International will provide Malaysian MSMEs with EPOS, its all-in-one SME transformation platform, offering digital tools ranging from payments and online store deployment to operations management and AI-powered productivity solutions. MDEC will support the programme by connecting the MSME community, industry associations, and ecosystem partners to drive nationwide adoption.
“Digitalisation is now essential for MSMEs to remain competitive and resilient,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, CEO of MDEC. “Our collaboration with Ant International ensures even the smallest businesses can access modern, AI-enabled tools to strengthen their foundations and participate fully in the digital economy.”
MSMEs form the backbone of Malaysia’s economy, accounting for 97% of all business establishments, yet many face hurdles in adopting digital solutions due to cost, access, and technical knowledge. EPOS addresses these gaps by unifying a suite of affordable, simple, and powerful tools, helping merchants gain actionable insights, streamline operations, and expand across online channels. Retail and F&B sectors, challenged by rising labor costs and evolving customer expectations, stand to benefit significantly from these digital solutions.
Ian Cheong, CEO of EPOS, added, “Malaysian MSMEs are ambitious and eager to grow. By making advanced technology accessible within minutes, we help them operate smarter, serve customers better, and scale confidently—ensuring no business is left behind.”
As part of its national digitalisation strategy, MDEC will lead workshops, training sessions, and co-developed programs to raise awareness and facilitate adoption of digital solutions, aligning the partnership with broader initiatives to transform Malaysia into an innovation-led digital economy.
