Ayala Malls, a leading lifestyle mall chain in the metro, is partnering with its host communities to provide entertainment, dining, and shopping. The company also engages in community-building initiatives, bringing merchants, residents, and mall-goers closer together. Ayala Malls U.P. Town Center in Katipunan, Quezon City, and Ayala Malls the 30th in Pasig are hosting Taste the Tidings: A Neighborhood Salu-Salo events, which combine food, fun, and festivities to benefit selected organizations. The inaugural event took place at Ayala Malls the 30th, with full support from the Pasig Government. The event was attended by Atty. Diego Luis S. Santiago, Deputy Assistant City Administrator & Officer-in-Charge of the Local Economic Development and Investment Office, and other esteemed guests. The Pasig Livelihood Training Center (PLTC) was the chosen beneficiary.

The PLTC plays a crucial role in empowering underprivileged Pasiguenos through skills training programs that foster self-employment and supporting potential entrepreneurs. Specifically, they extend their support to out-of-school youth, displaced workers, solo parents, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, among others. Sixty PLTC trainers and trainees enjoyed food and gifts from Ayala Malls the 30th merchants, including Pedal Cafe, Sibyullee, Razon’s by Glenn, Winkle Tea and Donuts, Corso Como, Potato Corner, and Heavenly Desserts.

“This salu-salo is our way of celebrating the successes and the hard work of our skilled trainers, our mentors at the livelihood center and most importantly all of you, our graduates, who took time and the effort to hone yourselves for the profession of livelihood,” shared Atty. Diego Santiago, Deputy Assistant City Administrator & Officer-in-Charge, Local Economic Development and Investment Office, City Government of Pasig.

The following day, Ayala Malls UPTC hosted their own salu-salo at the amphitheater, where over 70 kids (ages 7-14) from the Musmos Ateneo Organization experienced the true meaning of Christmas through a special program and goodies from Ayala Malls UPTC merchants: Penny Pairs, Serenitea, Chilis, Geonbae, Landers, El Pollo Loco, Kuya Korea, The Medical City Clinic, Manila Creamery, Le Sucre Lab, and Victory Church Katipunan.

Since 1985, Musmos Ateneo has been instrumental in the holistic formation of street children, instilling hope and igniting a grassroots movement to lead social action towards supporting the underprivileged and vulnerable community. Among those in attendance were Marivic Tolentino of QC Tourism, Jericho Cruz, President of Musmos Ateneo Organization, and Patricia Lloren, Marketing Manager at U.P. Town Center.

“In the season of giving and gratitude, our events like Taste the Tidings allow us to give back to our loyal patrons and partners, as well as communities and beneficiaries. Together, we are able to make a meaningful impact,” ends Patricia Lloren, Marketing Manager at U.P. Town Center.

Overall, the success of the event owes itself to the active participation of everyone involved. The gathering, designed for the community, is indeed an event crafted by the community. Community performers showcased their talents, beneficiaries from the local city played a crucial role, and partners and merchants contributed tokens and food. This collective effort not only ensured the well-being of the beneficiaries but also extended to the mall’s service providers, such as janitors and the security team. The collaborative spirit demonstrated here highlights the community’s vibrancy, resilience, and extraordinary nature.
