Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), together with ANTHILL, Maybank Foundation, and the Quezon City Local Government, has officially opened the Manila Circularity Hub under the ReShell: Weaving Waste project at the Payatas Controlled Disposal Facility. The hub marks a major step for the two-year initiative under Shell LiveWIRE, which transforms textile waste into reusable materials—including uniforms and corporate giveaways—to help reduce landfill and ocean pollution.

Equipped with 10 weaving looms, five of which are sponsored by Shell, the hub will train 10 women from Payatas to become community weavers skilled in sustainable production. In addition, 10 mothers from the non-profit Dear Me will undergo sewing training to expand their livelihood opportunities and boost household income.

The launch reflects Shell’s long-standing belief that meaningful and lasting change relies on strong partnerships. According to Lorelie Q. Osial, President and CEO of Shell Pilipinas Corporation, initiatives like this highlight Shell’s 111-year commitment to turning challenges into opportunities through innovation and collaboration. “When you have partners who share your values, work becomes easier, lighter, and much more meaningful,” she said.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte emphasized that the country’s first Textile Circularity Hub is a significant step in addressing the growing challenge of textile waste. She shared that the initiative not only supports circular fashion but also empowers women by giving them access to sustainable, dignified livelihood pathways.

Through this collaboration, Shell and its partners reaffirm that real progress begins with collective action. As part of PSFI’s continuing efforts to promote inclusive growth, the project also expands the foundation’s LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, and Development) training to strengthen community resilience. “What may be a waste to some can be a source of hope, livelihood, and dignity to others,” Osial added.
