Royal Caribbean International has officially revealed the fourth ship in its game-changing Icon Class: Hero of the Seas. Set to debut in Miami in August 2027, Hero is designed as the ultimate “hero of family vacations,” combining the best of beach retreats, resort escapes, and theme park thrills with record-breaking new features.

Starting today, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members can get exclusive early access to bookings on Royal Caribbean’s website, ahead of the official public opening on Thursday, April 2.

Record-Breaking Splashes and Thrills

Hero of the Seas will feature nine distinct pools—the most ever at sea—and the largest waterpark in the industry, Category 6.

  • Coconut Cove: A brand-new tropical pool experience located in Central Park, featuring in-water loungers and poolside service from The Lime and Coconut.

  • The Hideaway: This adults-only oasis has been expanded to include two pools and the largest swim-up bar at sea.

  • First-of-its-Kind Slides: The waterpark will debut the first-ever funnel family raft slide at sea, alongside revamped mat-racing duos.

Immersive Dining and Family “Firsts”

With a record 28 dining venues, Hero introduces culinary experiences that blend technology with tradition:

  • Royal Railway – Hero Station: A high-tech dining experience that uses floor-to-ceiling screens and sensory effects to transport diners via “train car” to global destinations.

  • Orleans Parish Supper Club: A sophisticated new venue featuring live jazz and gourmet Cajun/Creole cuisine inspired by the early 20th-century French Quarter.

  • Family Cooking Classes: A new dedicated venue in the Surfside neighborhood where families can learn everything from basic baking to advanced chopping skills together.

The Ultimate Family Stay

Royal Caribbean is raising the bar for multigenerational travel with new signature accommodations:

  • Ultimate Family Treehouse: A massive three-deck sanctuary featuring a private whirlpool, a dedicated teen space, and a rooftop terrace.

  • Ultimate Family Townhouse: Returning by popular demand, this three-level home offers direct access to the Surfside family neighborhood.

  • Diverse Suite Options: From Icon Loft Suites with panoramic ocean views to the new Interior Plus rooms, there is a space for every family size and budget.

Caribbean Adventures from Miami

Hero of the Seas will sail 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami. Every voyage includes a visit to the award-winning Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Featured stops include:

  • Western Caribbean: Roatan (Honduras), Cozumel, and Costa Maya (Mexico).

  • Eastern Caribbean: Philipsburg (St. Maarten) and Charlotte Amalie (St. Thomas).

“Icon Class set a new standard, and Hero of the Seas takes that vision even further,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean. “We are delivering the experiences families are looking for when vacationing together—with more water, more thrills, and more choices.”
