In 2000, KENZO transformed the scentless poppy into an iconic fragrance, creating a powdery floral signature that has captivated generations. Now, 25 years later, the House reinterprets its legacy with Le Rouge Flower, a new Eau de Parfum that explores the intensity, emotion, and symbolism of the color red.

A New Expression of an Icon

While the original Flower by KENZO gave scent to the poppy, Le Rouge Flower takes a more conceptual approach—asking a simple yet evocative question: if red had a scent, what would it be?

“For this new creation, we wanted to reinterpret the KENZO flower and imagine a radical, multifaceted flower that is both immersive and intense,” said master perfumers Alberto Morillas and Marie Salamagne.

The result is a fragrance that pushes boundaries, introducing what KENZO describes as a “clean gourmand” scent—blending freshness with warmth in a modern, layered composition.

A Sensory Journey Through Red

At the heart of Le Rouge Flower is Amberever®, a high-tech woody molecule that adds depth and sensuality. The fragrance opens with soft, clean notes of enveloping musks and rice steam, creating a delicate yet intriguing first impression.

This evolves into an amplified rose accord, offering a more intense and contemporary floral expression. The base reveals warm gourmand notes, where vanilla merges with woody tones to deliver a comforting yet sophisticated finish.

Together, these elements form a fragrance that is both radiant and grounded—mirroring the many dimensions of the color red.

A Bold New Design Language

For the first time in the Flower by KENZO line, the iconic poppy motif is absent from the bottle. Instead, Le Rouge Flower embraces a minimalist yet striking aesthetic.

The bottle is coated in deep red lacquer, accented by gold lettering, while the matte packaging features a varnished floral detail that adds texture and contrast. The interplay of red and gold reflects both modernity and the brand’s Japanese heritage, where red symbolizes vitality, joy, and prosperity.

Rooted in Nature and Sustainability

Continuing its commitment to responsible beauty, KENZO Parfums ensures that Le Rouge Flower aligns with more sustainable practices. The fragrance is composed of 92% natural-origin ingredients, while its bottle incorporates at least 15% recycled glass. Packaging is sourced from FSC®-certified forests.

The brand also highlights its ongoing collaboration with Masami Charlotte Lavault, a French-Japanese floriculturist who cultivates seasonal flowers in harmony with nature—reinforcing the connection between fragrance, environment, and craftsmanship.

A Campaign That Embraces Intensity

Fronted by Lavault, the campaign for Le Rouge Flower presents a bold and sensual vision of femininity. Set against a vivid red backdrop inspired by Japan’s rising sun, the imagery captures confidence, strength, and expressive individuality.
