More than a hundred small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Iloilo City gathered for SME Day Iloilo, an initiative by PLDT Enterprise aimed at helping local businesses build resilience through knowledge-sharing and technology.
The event featured expert-led sessions from PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT, VITRO, Inc., and Cisco Meraki, covering technologies shaping the future of business. Discussions included 5G and resilient connectivity, data centers, cybersecurity, and digital solutions designed to improve operations, protect businesses, ensure continuity, and help enterprises reach more customers.
Atty. Fydah Marie Sabandoh Del Rosario, Head of the Data Assessment and System Management Office of the Iloilo City Government, highlighted the vital role of SMEs in creating jobs, supporting families, and contributing to the local economy.
“As Iloilo continues to grow as a center for business and innovation, we want our entrepreneurs to be ready to take advantage of new opportunities, leveraging technology as an essential part of doing business,” she said.
PLDT Enterprise Vice President and Head of Growth Marketing, Digital, and Trade John Eric S. Alviz emphasized PLDT Group’s commitment to helping SMEs access the connectivity, technology, platforms, and solutions they need to grow.
Atty. Fritzie Gayle Diez-Treñas, Director for Finance, Administration and Corporate Affairs of JD Bakery Café, also shared how embracing digital transformation has helped the company streamline operations and prepare for the future. She encouraged entrepreneurs to view technology as an opportunity to become more efficient, make better decisions, and build stronger and more resilient businesses.
