Korean singer-songwriter imzoo is expanding her musical horizons with the release of “waiting for u,” her first international collaboration with Australian singer-songwriter will hyde.
The R&B single will be available on global streaming platforms on July 31, followed by its release on Korean music services on August 2.
A story told from two perspectives
Built around the uncertainty between friendship and romance, “waiting for u” explores the familiar emotions of waiting for a message, checking your phone, and wondering if someone feels the same way.
Set against a warm R&B groove and understated production, the song tells its story through a conversational format rather than a traditional duet. imzoo sings from the perspective of someone longing for reassurance, while will hyde responds with the revelation that he has been experiencing the same feelings all along.
The alternating vocals allow the narrative to unfold naturally, highlighting the chemistry between the two artists.
A bilingual collaboration
One of the song’s standout features is its bilingual approach.
imzoo performs portions of the track in English, while will hyde sings several lines in Korean. Throughout the recording process, the pair worked closely together to help each other refine their pronunciation, making language exchange an integral part of the collaboration.
Adding a personal touch, the lyrics also reference jeyuk-bokkeum, one of will hyde’s favorite Korean dishes, offering listeners a glimpse into the friendship that developed during the project.
Reflecting on the collaboration, imzoo shared:
“I helped will hyde practice the Korean lyrics during recording, and it was fun hearing his pronunciation become more natural over time. Learning each other’s languages while making music together became one of my favorite parts of this collaboration.”

“waiting for u” follows imzoo’s previous single, “Forgive Me,” continuing her exploration of honest, relatable emotions while marking an important milestone in her career as her first collaboration with an international artist.
