As digital platforms shape how young Filipinos learn, communicate, and explore, safeguarding children online has become more critical than ever. In response, Globe, in partnership with the City Government of Taguig, hosted the Children’s Digital Safety Workshop at the CDRRMO Training Plaza in Barangay Central Signal.
The event brought together 115 student leaders and teachers from Taguig’s public secondary schools, providing essential training on responsible online behavior amid rising national cases of cyberbullying, misuse of personal information, and online exploitation.
Globe led two expert sessions. Privacy Compliance Expert Karen Panisales guided participants on protecting personal data and navigating digital risks, while Jan Merced, Communications Manager, facilitated the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), Globe’s flagship digital citizenship training that has reached over four million students and educators nationwide since 2016. Through hands-on activities, participants learned to recognize online threats, encourage positive interactions, and make informed choices across digital platforms.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of collaboration among government, law enforcement, and the private sector. Representatives from the PNP Crime Division Office and the Department of Justice (DOJ) NCC-OSAEC-CSAEM, led by Prosecutor Lara Sanchez, discussed online sexual abuse, risk situations for minors, and reporting channels. Prosecutor Sanchez emphasized early awareness and timely action, noting that “when young people understand the early signs of exploitation and know how to report, they become key allies in stopping harm before it escalates.”
“By equipping student leaders with practical skills and insights, we help them guide their peers and create safer online communities,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano encouraged students to apply and share their learning to build a more responsible digital environment.
