Filipino singer-songwriter Gab Cabangon continues to make his mark as one of the country’s promising solo acts after earning a Best New Artist nomination at the Awit Awards. Known for his soulful guitar-pop sound and introspective songwriting, Cabangon now explores a more tender side of love with his latest single, “ngayon at kailanman.”
Written as a gift for his wife, the song took on an even more meaningful role when it became the surprise bridal march at their wedding, transforming a personal promise into a love song that listeners can make their own.
“ngayon at kailanman” centers on the conscious decision to stay and choose one another despite the imperfections and uncertainties that come with relationships. Inspired by songs such as Johnoy Danao’s “Ikaw at Ako,” Ebe Dancel’s “Cuida,” and TJ Monterde’s “Palagi,” the track captures the hope of finding a love that provides comfort while allowing both people to grow.
Cabangon describes the song as a musical “warm, tight embrace,” hoping listeners recognize that lasting relationships are not about perfection but about continuing to choose each other through difficult moments.
Produced by David Lina, the track follows a deliberate “less is more” approach, keeping the instrumentation stripped down and placing greater emphasis on the lyrics. Cabangon envisioned the song as an intimate wedding vow, allowing its vulnerability and sincerity to remain at the heart of the production.
Originally written without plans for public release, “ngayon at kailanman” eventually became part of Cabangon’s upcoming EP, following “Pieces,” “Kama,” and “Ikot Ulit.” The project explores the journey of falling out of love and rediscovering passion, hope, and the courage to love again.
