Filipino alt-rock band Fitterkarma, fresh off their 2025 breakout hits “Pag-ibig Ay Kanibalismo II” and “Kalapastangan,” kicks off 2026 with the launch of their new single, “Aswang Sa Maynila.” The single launch event, titled Bangungot: “Aswang Sa Maynila” Single Launch, will take place on February 14, 2026, at 123 Block, Mandaluyong City, featuring an hour-long set from the band along with a curated lineup of support acts.
Produced by Fitterkarma in partnership with GNN and ONErpm, the event promises fans a unique experience. Frontman Joao de Leon shares, “For our set, we’ll be playing more songs than usual, including older tracks and unreleased material. We’re also preparing a few surprising covers, which we’re really excited to share.” Attendees can also enjoy booths and interactive activities, making the launch both a musical and fan-centered celebration. Additional supporting acts will be announced in the coming weeks, and tickets are available via https://www.bit.ly/aswangsamnl.
Set for release a day before the event, “Aswang Sa Maynila” reflects themes of displacement and longing, capturing “the feeling of not belonging in someone’s heart no matter what you do,” according to Joao. The track was composed by Joao with contributions from bandmates Soph, Ders, and Mikee, and produced by Xergio Ramos, who helped balance the band’s ideas. Drawing from J-Rock and heavier music influences, the song features guest vocals from Kai Sevillano of Novocrane, marking Fitterkarma’s first collaboration with another artist.
Fitterkarma’s rise in 2025 established them as a force in the Filipino indie scene. “Pag-ibig Ay Kanibalismo II” topped the Spotify Philippines Top 50 and the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, while “Kalapastangan” reached No. 2 and No. 5 on the same charts. Known for their gothic, folklore-inspired themes and genre-bending sound, Fitterkarma continues to push creative boundaries with this latest release.
