A Filipino student’s artwork is set to travel around the world after Lauren Kerby Obaldo, a second-year Multimedia Arts student from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), won the grand prize at the UPS Express Envelope Design Competition.
Obaldo’s winning design, “Haraya sa Kalsada,” was selected from nearly 400 entries submitted by DLS-CSB Multimedia Arts students. Inspired by the Filipino jeepney, festival aesthetics, and Clark’s growing role in transportation and global logistics, the artwork stood out for its originality and visual storytelling.
As the grand prize winner, Obaldo’s design will be featured on official UPS Express Envelopes used for international shipments, giving her work a global platform.
The competition challenged students to create original designs based on three themes: “Roots of Progress,” celebrating Filipino resilience and heritage; “Galaw ng Bayan, Abot ang Mundo,” exploring connectivity and global opportunities; and “Clark Rising: Asia’s Center, Philippines’ Pride,” highlighting innovation and infrastructure.
The first-place winners for each category were Aleana Szobelle P. Lallamant for “Started From the Bottom Now We’re Here!”, Jana Lois D. Oliveros for “Reach for the Waves,” and Obaldo for “Haraya sa Kalsada.”
Following public voting and multiple rounds of judging, the top entries were evaluated by Filipino contemporary artists Jigger Cruz, Demi Padua, Olivia d’Aboville, and Lisa Ongpin-Periquet.
The top 30 designs were also showcased at Ayala Museum during the awards ceremony, celebrating Filipino creativity, resilience, connectivity, and innovation.
The competition forms part of UPS’s preparations for its upcoming Clark hub, scheduled to open later in 2026. The facility is expected to strengthen international connectivity for Philippine businesses and expand access to markets across Asia.
