Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has strengthened its intra-Asia logistics network with a new dedicated, nonstop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia, providing faster shipping for businesses across the region, including the Philippines.

Operating five times a week using Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, the new route is expected to reduce transit times for select shipments from the Philippines to Australia by up to one day, allowing eligible deliveries to arrive in as little as two business days.

The enhanced service also benefits shipments originating from Southern Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.

According to FedEx, the expanded route is designed to support businesses through:

  • Faster order fulfillment with improved speed-to-market and lower inventory holding costs.
  • Increased cargo capacity for heavy-weight freight and high-value shipments.
  • Stronger business-to-business trade opportunities across Asia and Australia.

“The new Guangzhou-Sydney service marks a meaningful advancement for Philippine businesses looking to grow their presence in the Australian market,” said Maribeth Espinosa, managing director of FedEx Philippines.

“With faster transit times, exporters can respond more quickly to demand and gain a stronger competitive advantage in a dynamic trade environment,” she added.

FedEx noted that the service comes as intra-Asia trade continues to expand, with the region recording double-digit year-on-year revenue growth in 2025. As businesses increasingly adopt regionalized and more resilient supply chains, improved air cargo connectivity has become a key driver of trade efficiency.

The Guangzhou-Sydney route is part of FedEx’s broader investments in enhancing its Asia-Pacific network. Recent initiatives include dedicated nonstop cargo flights between Guangzhou and Penang, additional weekly freighter services between Guangzhou and Bangkok, and improved outbound cargo connections from Hanoi to South Korea.

These network enhancements aim to help businesses capitalize on growing trade flows, improve supply chain efficiency, and expand into new international markets.
