Urban Label by Maria & Co has teamed up with Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) to launch a textile collection that honors Filipino cultural heritage while embracing modern design tools and mindful production practices. The collaboration was facilitated by ES Print Media, Inc., connecting Epson with designer Beatriz Nicole Benadera to bring this culturally rooted collection to life.
At the heart of the collection is the Waling-Waling, celebrated as the Queen of Philippine Flowers and a symbol of resilience and beauty. Known for its vibrant petals and intricate form, the Waling-Waling becomes the centerpiece of garments that seamlessly merge tradition with contemporary aesthetics.
Designer Benadera drew inspiration from Filipino identity across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, using textiles as her primary canvas. Rather than relying on embellishments, the designs highlight fabric, print, and color placement as central to defining each silhouette.
To achieve this vision, Epson’s SureColor SC-F9430H digital textile printer translated photographic references of the Waling-Waling into vivid, precise prints. Large-scale panels were produced in single outputs, preserving intricate details and maintaining visual continuity across flowing silhouettes.
Epson’s decades-long expertise in precision printing underscores not only technical excellence but also a more mindful and flexible production process. On-demand printing reduces excess materials and allows designers to execute ideas with clarity and confidence—supporting sustainability in fashion.
“Working with Epson completely changed my creative process,” said Benadera. “It allowed textile design to become an integral part of each garment and shifted my approach from designing around limitations to designing with confidence.”
For Epson, the partnership demonstrates how technology can bridge tradition and modernity. “Our solutions help designers bring ideas to life with precision while supporting responsible production practices,” said Masako Kusama, Director and President of EPC.
This collection marks a new chapter in Filipino fashion—where cultural storytelling meets contemporary tools, resulting in garments that are both deeply rooted in heritage and forward-looking.
