OPM rock fans are in for a night of pure Pinoy rock energy as Chito Miranda and friends take the stage at CenterPlay, City of Dreams Manila, on August 19 at 9:30 p.m. The performance is the latest highlight of CenterPlay’s monthly Concert Series, which continues to bring some of the country’s most celebrated and enduring OPM artists to the stage.

Best known as the charismatic frontman of Parokya ni Edgar, Miranda began his journey to becoming a Filipino rock icon in the 1990s, when the band regularly performed at Club Dredd, one of Manila’s legendary rock venues. Parokya ni Edgar soon rose to prominence during the Filipino rock boom, drawing inspiration from the international grunge movement led by bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden.

Often dubbed “The National Band of the Philippines,” Parokya ni Edgar has sold more than 600,000 albums nationwide, with beloved hits including “Buloy,” “Harana,” “Halaga,” and “Silvertoes” becoming part of the OPM canon. Their debut album, Khangkhungkherrnitz (1996), and follow-up, Buruguduystunstugudunstuy (1997), both achieved triple-platinum status.

Beyond their signature rock sound, the band has also become known for its witty novelty songs and satirical covers, showcasing a versatility that has helped them remain relevant across generations.

Under Miranda’s leadership, Parokya ni Edgar has earned several accolades, including an MTV Southeast Asian Music Video Award for “Harana” in 1999 and an induction into the Eastwood City Walk of Fame in 2017 in recognition of the group’s influence on Pinoy rock.

Chito Miranda Live at CenterPlay follows a series of sold-out performances featuring some of the country’s most beloved artists, including nostalgia hitmakers Randy Santiago, Janno Gibbs, and Raymond Lauchengco; ultimate performer Vina Morales; balladeer Ice Seguerra; matinee idols Gabby Concepcion and Ian Veneracion; diamond soul siren Nina; and other OPM stars.

With its growing lineup of celebrated performers, CenterPlay continues to establish itself as a destination for live music and entertainment in Metro Manila.

Adding to the evening’s entertainment, resident bands Rhythm Nation, Highschool Playlist, and Dawn of Eve will perform on a rotating schedule from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., keeping the energy going throughout the night.
