Chinabank is making everyday payments more convenient for its customers with the launch of Apple Pay for its cardholders in the Philippines, offering a secure and seamless way to pay in stores, in apps, and online using Apple devices.
With Apple Pay, Chinabank cardholders can make contactless purchases in stores by simply double-clicking the side button on their iPhone or Apple Watch, authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode, and holding the device near a contactless payment terminal.
Apple Pay can be used at a wide range of establishments that accept contactless payments, including grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, coffee shops, and retail stores.
“At Chinabank, we continuously enhance the way our customers pay by providing secure and convenient experiences that are aligned with our customers’ evolving needs,” said Jose Julian E. Baduria, Jr., Payment Solutions Head of Chinabank. “With Apple Pay, our cardholders can enjoy a seamless way to make purchases in stores, in apps, and online using the Apple devices they use every day.”
He added that the service reflects Chinabank’s focus on delivering convenient payment experiences while allowing customers to continue enjoying the rewards and benefits associated with their Chinabank cards.
Designed for Secure and Private Payments
Security and privacy are central to the Apple Pay experience. When a credit or debit card is added to Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on the device or on Apple servers.
Instead, Apple Pay assigns a unique Device Account Number, which is encrypted and securely stored in the device’s Secure Element—a certified chip designed to protect payment information.
Each transaction is also authenticated using Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode, together with a unique, one-time dynamic security code. This means customers can make payments without directly sharing their physical card number with merchants.
More Convenient Shopping Across Apple Devices
Beyond in-store purchases, Chinabank cardholders can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac when shopping in apps or online.
The service eliminates the need to repeatedly enter card, billing, shipping, and contact information, helping make online checkout faster and more convenient.
Setting up Apple Pay is also straightforward. On an iPhone, customers simply open the Wallet app, tap the “+” button, and follow the instructions to add their eligible Chinabank credit or debit cards.
Once a card is added to an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac, customers can begin using Apple Pay on that device.
Chinabank cardholders will continue to receive the rewards and benefits associated with their cards when using Apple Pay, giving them another way to enjoy their existing card privileges while making everyday payments more convenient.
