Nearly a decade after “Leaves” became a beloved OPM staple, Ben&Ben breathes new life into the emotional ballad with “Leaves (Reimagined),” a mature reinterpretation that explores forgiveness, second chances, and the complexities of growing alongside the people we love.
Rather than simply recreating the original, the new rendition presents the song from a different emotional perspective. Orchestral elements complement the band’s signature sound, giving its quieter moments greater nuance while allowing its emotional peaks to unfold with more depth.
“We wanted to highlight how much more dynamic life is emotionally when you grow up and grow older,” the band shared, explaining their decision to explore orchestral arrangements alongside the band. The result is a version that feels more lived-in and reflective, mirroring the experiences that come with love, loss, uncertainty, and change.
For Ben&Ben, the reimagined track reflects not only their own growth but also that of their community, whom they call their Liwanag. The band sees forgiveness and giving second chances as an inevitable part of maintaining lasting relationships—whether with family, close friends, or romantic partners.
Following “Lifetime (Reimagined),” the group says “Leaves (Reimagined)” took on its own creative direction, revealing new melodic, lyrical, and musical possibilities rather than simply revisiting the past.
Ben&Ben’s continued influence on OPM was further recognized in June when they were named Duo/Group Artist of the Year at the 17th PMPC Star Awards for Music. The band also received multiple nominations at the 39th Awit Awards, including Record of the Year, Best Performance by a Group, and Best Pop Recording for “Saranggola.”
The band is set to bring its music and community together at “Saranggola: The Concert” on October 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
