Bacolod’s streets come alive every October with colorful masks, music, and festivities for the MassKara Festival. This year, Globe is adding to the celebration with a month-long lineup of activities powered by Globe 5G, giving Bacolodnons and visitors more opportunities to connect, create, and experience the City of Smiles.

The initiatives put local communities at the heart of the festivities, bringing together students, artists, musicians, families, and entrepreneurs while showcasing Bacolod’s homegrown talent.

“MassKara reflects the creativity, optimism and strong sense of community that Bacolod is known for. We want to give Bacolodnons more ways to come together, showcase their talents and make the most of the festival with connectivity that keeps up with them,” said KD Dizon, Globe Chief Marketing Officer.

Celebrating Creativity, Movement, And Music

The festivities kicked off on October 10 with 5G HyperMove, which brought the local running community together for a challenge to collectively reach one million steps. Young creatives also joined 5G Building Craft: Paint Tomorrow, using mural art and Gemini AI to develop concepts inspired by Bacolod’s digital future.

The city’s iconic destinations took the spotlight through 5G EnergyTok, a TikTok dance challenge featuring San Sebastian Cathedral and Public Plaza, Negros Museum and Art District, The Ruins, and Capitol Park and Lagoon. Participants showcased their creativity while highlighting some of Bacolod’s most recognizable landmarks.

Music takes center stage at G Music Fest on October 17 at the Bacolod Government Center, headlined by December Avenue. Selected student bands from 5G EnergyJam will also perform, giving emerging musicians from local universities the opportunity to showcase their talent on the MassKara stage.

From October 16 to 18, festivalgoers can visit the Globe 5G Pitstop booth along Lacson Street for interactive activities, 5G SIM activations, and device upgrade options. The booth offers visitors an opportunity to explore Globe 5G while enjoying the festival’s main attractions.

The initiatives are made possible with the support of Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc., GCash, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Jollibee, Leslie’s Chips, and Viu, alongside official beneficiary Pawssion Project.

Extending Digital Opportunities Beyond The Festival

Globe’s community initiatives will continue beyond MassKara, bringing digital tools and learning opportunities to local entrepreneurs and students.

Through the Globe Caravan, micro and small business owners can explore connectivity solutions and digital tools for social commerce. Meanwhile, a campus initiative at Bacolod City National High School will provide 20 5G-enabled devices and Digital Thumbprint Program sessions to support digital learning and responsible technology use.

By combining festival experiences with community programs, Globe aims to help Bacolodnons create, perform, learn, and participate in the digital economy. These efforts extend the spirit of MassKara beyond the celebrations, giving students and entrepreneurs practical skills and opportunities they can use in everyday life.
