For Asian travellers dreaming of a European getaway, seeing several destinations in one vacation is becoming increasingly appealing. A new YouGov survey commissioned by Royal Caribbean found that 74% of respondents across Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines consider multi-destination European cruise travel appealing, with interest rising to 75% among Filipino respondents.
The findings come as Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon Class vacation, offers Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona, Spain, and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy. Its itineraries include destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Provence, Florence, Rome, and Naples/Capri, bringing multiple European experiences into a single vacation.
More Destinations, Less Travel Hassle
The research highlights how travellers are looking for ways to spend less time managing logistics and more time enjoying their holidays. 87% of respondents identified at least one challenge associated with travelling between multiple European destinations, led by flight delays and cancellations at 51%, long layovers at 38%, managing luggage between countries at 37%, and repeatedly packing and unpacking at 34%.
Cruising offers several benefits that address these concerns. Among respondents, 49% valued having meals and entertainment included, while 42% appreciated being able to visit multiple destinations with ease. Another 38% cited avoiding airport processes, while 35% valued not having to repeatedly pack and unpack.
Across the five markets, cruise ranked as the preferred mode of intra-European transportation at 26%, ahead of trains and short-haul flights. The Philippines recorded the highest cruise preference at 34%.
Turning Travel Time Into Vacation Time
The appeal also extends to the onboard experience, with 89% of respondents interested in onboard entertainment and 85% interested in thrill and leisure experiences. Among the most anticipated attractions on Legend of the Seas are America’s Got Talent LIVE at 39%, Surfside Neighborhood at 38%, and the Category 6 Waterpark at 33%.
Dining is another highlight, with Royal Railway – Legend Station leading the most anticipated dining experiences at 23%, followed by Chops Grille at 19% and Hollywoodland Supper Club at 15%.
“Travellers are increasingly looking for holidays that are seamless, enriching and full of adventure,” said Ben Bouldin, President, Greater China and Managing Director, Asia, Royal Caribbean. “Legend of the Seas marks a pivotal moment as we bring an Icon Class vacation to Europe for the first time.”
The YouGov survey covered 6,223 respondents aged 18 and above across the five markets, with fieldwork conducted from May 28 to June 8, 2026.
