As more Philippine businesses explore artificial intelligence to improve productivity, a new Synology survey highlights a practical challenge behind adoption: making sure the data powering AI tools is accessible, reliable, and protected.
More than 90% of Philippine respondents say AI-ready infrastructure is important to workflow efficiency and productivity, yet 70% identify data security and privacy as a key challenge to adopting AI. The findings were shared during the Synology Annual Media Event 2026, where the company discussed data infrastructure, cyber resilience, and AI-powered productivity.
The survey also points to several data-management concerns. Around 47% of respondents cite data quality and availability as challenges, while 40% say their data is scattered across different environments. Nearly 40% also report having limited visibility into how information submitted to third-party AI tools is managed.
Infrastructure preferences further reflect the need for greater control over business data, with approximately 74% favoring on-premises or hybrid approaches, compared with 9.9% prioritizing public cloud.
Strengthening Data And Cyber Resilience
Synology Southeast Asia Head Antoine Yang emphasized that AI creates value when it helps employees work more effectively and businesses respond to customers, while Philippines Country Manager Claire Huang highlighted the importance of being able to recover essential services when disruptions occur.
The survey found that 72.4% of respondents are confident in their ability to recover from ransomware using protected backups, although only 25.4% describe themselves as very confident.
To address these needs, Synology is expanding its 2026 portfolio with solutions focused on scalable storage, cyber resilience, and AI-powered productivity. These include the PAS7700 active-active NVMe all-flash storage solution, new FS and RS series, Synology Tiering, and data reduction capabilities in DSM 7.4.
For backup and recovery, ActiveProtect appliances offer centralized management, immutable data protection, and automated isolation, while ActiveProtect Manager 2.0 expands support across additional virtualization and cloud environments.
Synology is also bringing AI into everyday collaboration through Synology Office Suite, ChatPlus, and Meet, alongside AI-powered video search and analytics through the DVA7400. Together, the company’s latest developments reflect the growing importance of building data infrastructure that can support AI adoption while keeping business information manageable and protected.
