Filipino city pop and Manila Sound fusion band ALYSON is bringing its signature sound to more audiences after making its debut at AXEAN Music Festival in Bali, Indonesia, followed by a performance at September Fever in Cebu.

Known for blending Japanese City Pop with the classic sounds of Manila, the Quezon City-based jazz-pop group has been carving out its own space in the local indie scene. The band’s distinct sound earned attention from music platforms including Billboard Philippines and Billboard Georgia’s NEXT GEN campaign following the release of its debut album, DEFINITELY LOVE!.

From Manila To Bali And Cebu

The band’s recent performances came after the release of its sophomore album, “AFTER OURS,” which explores and further incorporates Manila Sound into ALYSON’s musical identity. The album also takes a more conceptual approach, with a narrative inspired by the storytelling style of teleseryes and K-dramas.

Performing in Bali gave the group an opportunity to connect with fellow Southeast Asian artists, music fans, and industry delegates while exploring the musical similarities shared across the region.

“It was a dream to be able to play outside the Philippines,” shared drummer Marcus Mababangloob, who said the experience reinforced the band’s interest in the musical connections between the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, and other parts of Southeast Asia.

The response in Bali also surprised the band, with audiences showing a warmth and energy similar to what ALYSON experiences at home. Their Cebu performance delivered another memorable moment, with Mababangloob describing it as a “homecourt we never knew” after seeing fans sing along and dance despite it being the band’s first performance there.

Bringing ALYSON Closer To More Fans

The experiences have strengthened ALYSON’s goal of being a Filipino band capable of connecting with audiences beyond its home scene while carrying the spirit of OPM into the wider Southeast Asian music community.

The band is now working with its label Offshore Music on a possible Luzon-wide tour, potentially bringing its live performances closer to more ALYSTANS across the region.

Before then, ALYSON will perform live at The Cozy Cove in Baguio on September 25.

Fans can also stream “AFTER OURS,” ALYSON’s sophomore album, now available on major digital streaming platforms.
