Royal Caribbean has named retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson as the official godmother of Legend of the Seas, ahead of the ship’s arrival in Fort Lauderdale this November.
A pioneering military leader and the first woman to serve as a U.S. combatant commander, Gen. Robinson previously led NORAD and NORTHCOM during her 37-year Air Force career. As godmother, she will take part in the maritime tradition of bestowing safekeeping upon the ship, its crew, and the millions of vacationers expected to sail aboard Legend of the Seas.
Following its summer debut in Europe, Legend of the Seas will officially arrive in the United States with a Veterans Day naming ceremony on November 11 in Fort Lauderdale. The celebration will recognize Gen. Robinson’s groundbreaking career alongside the service of veterans, active-duty military members, and military families.
A Family Vacation At Sea

The ship features 28 dining options, including Royal Railway – Legend Station and the multi-course Hollywoodland Supper Club, alongside seven pools and attractions such as Crown’s Edge, a combination skywalk and zip line suspended 154 feet above the ocean.
Entertainment highlights include America’s Got Talent LIVE on Legend of the Seas and Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” giving families multiple ways to spend time together on board.
From Fort Lauderdale, Legend of the Seas will offer 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, including stops in Oranjestad, Aruba, and Willemstad, Curaçao. Every sailing will also visit Perfect Day CocoCay in The Bahamas, featuring beaches, pools, a waterpark, and other attractions.
