Salesforce has announced Slack Code and dedicated code channels, a new environment designed to make AI-assisted software development a more collaborative, team-based experience.
Available across all Slack plans, Slack Code allows teams to work with AI coding agents—including Claude Code, Devin, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Vercel agents—directly within shared Slack spaces. Instead of working with AI tools through separate browser tabs or private terminals, developers and non-technical team members can collaborate in one centralized environment.
Each code channel includes dedicated tabs for team conversations, the AI agent’s action plan, line-by-line code diffs, and live previews of the running project. This allows teams to monitor AI-generated work, review changes, identify issues, and provide feedback in real time.
Slack says the new environment is designed to shift AI from individual “copilots” toward broader team productivity and business value. Product managers, designers, marketers, and other non-technical employees can also interact with AI agents, review outputs, and help guide development, potentially reducing bottlenecks for routine tasks and fixes.
The platform also incorporates enterprise governance and human oversight. Team members can pause, redirect, or stop an AI agent during a task, while human approval remains required before final changes are pushed to production.
Slack Code also features automatic project-based code channels that can be created when an AI agent is tagged in a conversation. Completed channels can be archived while retaining searchable records of the work.
With integrations spanning major AI coding platforms and plans to support custom enterprise agents, Slack is positioning code channels as a way for organizations to bring AI development, collaboration, review, and governance into one shared workspace.
Slack Code and code channels are currently available across all Slack plans, although integrations with partner AI agents require separate access.
