After dominating music conversations with their breakout releases, Filipino alternative band fitterkarma is set to headline its first major solo concert, “kung tayo’y nasa isang horror na pelikula, tiyak ako ang una mong papatayin: The Album Concert,” on September 19, 2026, at the historic Metropolitan Theater Manila.
Produced by fitterkarma and GNN, the concert will serve as the official launch of the band’s highly anticipated debut full-length album, which is scheduled for release two weeks before the show.
A live experience of the entire album
For the first time, fans will hear the album performed in full—from its opening track to its emotional finale—exactly as the band envisioned it.
The production promises an immersive concert experience featuring expanded stage design, exclusive live arrangements, and a special collaboration with The Manila String Machine, whose orchestral accompaniment will bring added depth to fitterkarma’s signature cinematic sound.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Joao de Leon believes experiencing the record live will allow listeners to connect with the music on a deeper level.
“Witnessing the record live will be a more fulfilling experience. For me, watching the songs performed live is the best way to experience it, because music being played live has no limits, reaching and releasing your emotions, and the record is meant to be felt above all,” he said.
Guitarist LORY (Mikee Mendoza) added that performing the album in sequence creates a unique listening experience.
“I think hearing any album in the order intended by the artist is an experience in itself. So aside from the studio album itself, we hope to be able to elevate that experience by bringing it into a live setting and bring justice to the recorded versions of our tracks.”
LORY also shared that inviting The Manila String Machine to perform with the band felt like a natural progression after previous recording collaborations.
From breakout act to chart-topping band
Formed in 2023, fitterkarma is composed of:
- Joao de Leon – vocals and guitar
- Sophia Miranda – bass
- Sanders Bayas – drums
- LORY (Mikee Mendoza) – guitar
The band quickly gained recognition for blending Philippine folklore, dark theatrical themes, and alternative rock influences into a distinctive musical identity.
Their breakthrough singles “Kalapastangan” and “Pag-ibig ay Kanibalismo II” both reached No. 1 on the Spotify Philippines Top 50 and Billboard Philippines Hot 100, cementing their place among the country’s fastest-rising alternative acts.
Ahead of the album release, fitterkarma also unveiled “Purgatoryo,” a brooding new single that explores a heavier, shoegaze-inspired sound while maintaining the melodic sensibilities that have become the band’s trademark.
