Silent Sanctuary frontman and songwriter Sarkie Sarangay shared his creative journey and songwriting insights during the FILSCAP Master Lecture Series held on July 11 at Trinoma Cinema 1.

Organized by the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP), the event gathered aspiring and established songwriters for an afternoon of learning and creative exchange. Open to both FILSCAP members and non-members, the lecture series explored the craft of writing songs that resonate with audiences across generations.

Drawing from his years as a composer and performer, Sarangay reflected on the experiences, challenges, and inspirations that continue to shape his music. He encouraged participants to remain dedicated to their craft, emphasizing that passion and consistent practice are essential to becoming better songwriters.

“Mahalin n’yo ang music at mamahalin niya kayo pabalik. Walang mahirap sa mga taong nagpa-practice at dedicated sa music,” Sarangay told attendees.

The event comes as Silent Sanctuary prepares for one of the biggest milestones in its career with its upcoming Gabi ng Lambing concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Originally scheduled for October 25, the concert sold out in just five hours, prompting the band to announce an additional “reverse” Day 2 performance on October 24 at the same venue to accommodate overwhelming fan demand.

As the band gears up for the back-to-back shows, Sarangay’s message at the FILSCAP Master Lecture Series serves as a reminder that every memorable song begins with genuine passion, dedication, and a commitment to continuously improve as an artist.

His appearance also reinforces Silent Sanctuary’s enduring influence in the local music scene—not only through the band’s chart-topping hits but also by inspiring the next generation of Filipino songwriters to pursue their craft with heart and perseverance.
