SB19 member and solo artist Justin continues to expand his creative horizons with the release of his latest single, “dahon,” now available on digital streaming platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
Written by acclaimed singer-songwriter Maki, the song reflects on love as a constant and enduring force amid life’s inevitable changes. Drawing inspiration from nature, “dahon” uses the image of a tree as a metaphor for commitment—one that bends through storms yet remains firmly rooted despite shifting seasons.
A Song About Enduring Love
For Justin, the song’s symbolism resonates deeply with his own understanding of relationships and devotion.
“The tree imagery reflects my understanding of love and commitment as something that remains strong even through change,” Justin shared.
He explained that one of the song’s most meaningful ideas is that commitment is not about remaining unchanged, but about staying grounded through life’s challenges and transitions.
“I also find hope in the idea that after a leaf falls, another one eventually grows. It reminds me that genuine love can continue to renew itself over time, which beautifully reflects the song’s message of a timeless vow in an ever-changing world,” he added.
Expanding a Creative Universe
Complementing the release is an official music video that introduces three original characters—Treesha, JahJah, and Brodie—further expanding the imaginative world Justin has been building throughout his solo career.
The characters serve as visual extensions of the themes and emotions explored in his music, offering fans a new way to engage with his storytelling.
“They are part of that larger world, and they help bring the themes and emotions of the music to life in a more visual and engaging way,” Justin said.
Inspired by beloved franchises such as Pokémon and other character-driven games, Justin created the trio as alternative representations of his artistic vision.
More Stories to Come
Justin revealed that Treesha, JahJah, and Brodie are only the beginning. He hopes to further develop their stories and personalities through future projects and creative platforms.
“Fans can look forward to learning more about them through future releases and, hopefully, through merchandise, comics, or visual storybooks that explore their world in greater detail,” he shared.
Where Music Meets Visual Art
The release of “dahon” also coincides with Justin’s latest multidisciplinary art initiative, a project that merges music and visual storytelling into a single immersive experience.
As SB19’s creative director, Justin sees the endeavor as a natural convergence of his passions for music and visual art.
“I hope people will see the beauty and inspiration that can come from combining music and visual art into one experience,” he said. “More than just enjoying the song, I want them to feel how different art forms can work together to tell a deeper story and create a stronger emotional connection.”
Ultimately, Justin hopes the project encourages audiences to appreciate art from a fresh perspective and inspires them to explore their own creativity.
“dahon” is now available on all major digital music platforms worldwide. The official music video is also available for viewing online.
