A mom’s job is never done. Every day, she wakes up and quietly keeps the household running—cooking, cleaning, organizing, planning, and managing countless responsibilities without expecting recognition.

To highlight this often-unseen labor, IKEA Philippines introduced “Mama Manuals”, a series of step-by-step household guides designed to help dads and kids take over daily home tasks and give moms a much-needed break. Originally launched on Mother’s Day, the guides remain available year-round as a tribute to everything mothers do to keep homes running smoothly.

Step-by-step guides for everyday home tasks

The Mama Manuals are designed as practical, easy-to-follow instructions that help other family members take on routine household responsibilities typically handled by moms.

From preparing meals and organizing pantry items to storing plastic bags, arranging condiments, fitting bedsheets properly, and maintaining a clean living space, the guides break down everyday chores into simple steps.

While straightforward in format, the manuals also highlight a deeper message: many of the tasks that keep a home functioning seamlessly often go unnoticed until someone else tries to do them.

A reminder of unseen household work

Beyond practical use, IKEA Philippines positions Mama Manuals as a way to bring awareness to the invisible effort behind managing a household.

The initiative encourages families to reflect on how much work is involved in maintaining daily home life—and how often that responsibility falls on mothers without acknowledgment.

It also reinforces the idea that appreciation for moms should not be limited to a single occasion like Mother’s Day, but extended throughout the year through shared responsibility at home.

Celebrating moms through everyday action

“At IKEA, we believe in the beauty of everyday life at home,” said Cidge Laxamana, External Communications Manager of IKEA Philippines. “Moms are the architects of that everyday life, and this is our simple and meaningful way to finally say thank you.”

She added that Mama Manuals aim to help families better understand and appreciate the effort mothers put into maintaining the home, while encouraging small but meaningful acts of support.

Available online year-round

The Mama Manuals are available for free through IKEA Philippines’ official social media pages:

Families are encouraged to use the guides as a simple way to share household responsibilities and give moms more time to rest, recharge, and be celebrated—not just for a day, but every day.
