Grab Philippines and MOVE IT have partnered with ARK Solves to launch a community-led food security program aimed at helping gig worker communities build more sustainable and self-reliant food sources.
At the center of the initiative is Feed Back, ARK Solves’ flagship community exchange program that enables families to grow fresh produce at home and share surplus harvests with neighbors, strengthening food access at the community level.
The program was launched with the support of the local government units of Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal, San Mateo, Rizal, and Antipolo, where it will be piloted among Grab and MOVE IT rider communities. Nearly 700 rider-partners and community leaders have already signed up and begun receiving seeds and training on urban gardening and composting.
“Grab remains committed to helping our driver- and delivery-partners and their families stay resilient in the face of shifting macroeconomic realities,” said Ronald Roda, Managing Director of Grab Philippines.
Over the 16-week program, participants will cultivate home gardens and organize weekly produce exchange activities within their neighborhoods to share surplus harvests.
“Community has always been at the heart of MOVE IT,” said Wayne Jacinto, General Manager of MOVE IT. “Through initiatives like this, riders can come together and co-create sustainable programs that support their everyday needs.”
According to Ayesha Vera-Yu, CEO and Co-Founder of ARK Solves, the collaboration demonstrates how Feed Back can expand its impact even in urban communities. The program has already reached 120 communities nationwide, benefiting more than 36,000 fishing and farming households.
Following the pilot rollout, Grab, MOVE IT, and ARK Solves plan to expand the program to more driver- and rider-rich communities across the country.
