The newly redeveloped Caloocan City People’s Park, made possible through a P50 million donation from Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corporation (MRP Foundation), was formally inaugurated in a ceremonial turnover led by Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan and MRP Foundation Chairman and President Clarence Chung.

The inauguration coincided with the 64th Cityhood anniversary celebration of Caloocan City.

MRP Foundation, the charitable arm of City of Dreams Manila, fully funded the comprehensive redevelopment of the public park. The project includes landscaped gardens, a children’s playground, outdoor fitness equipment, a jogging lane, picnic areas, a pickleball court, upgraded walkways, seating areas, and enhanced security features.

Open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the modernized park also features food kiosks that provide additional livelihood opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

“We believe that communal spaces help build strong and thriving communities where citizens can gather to connect, and where children can play. We are thankful for the opportunity to contribute P50 million to Caloocan City’s commitment to uplift its public spaces, because providing parks for the community exemplifies one of the highest traditions of public service,” Chung said during the ceremony.

He also acknowledged the support of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and other project partners in bringing the redevelopment to fruition.

Chung added, “We are optimistic that the Caloocan City People’s Park will be a vibrant hub for community gatherings, recreation, and cultural and sports events.”

The initiative supports Caloocan City’s “greener city goal” and smart city program, which aim to expand accessible green spaces for residents. The donation forms part of MRP Foundation’s broader efforts focused on environmental sustainability, education, culture, and healthcare — aligned with PAGCOR’s social responsibility mandate.
