MANILA (January 28, 2026) — Grocery shopping in Metro Manila is about to take on a more global rhythm. Beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026, ACX Holdings Corporation—the retail arm of Ayala Corporation—and premium supermarket chain Spinneys will open 12 locations across the metro, introducing a new benchmark in everyday food retail.
The move follows the strategic partnership signed in September 2025, bringing the United Arab Emirates–based grocer, long known for its refined take on fresh food and curated imports, to the Philippines.
“Premium grocery retail today is about more than what’s on the shelves—it’s about curation, service, and the joy of discovery,” said Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Managing Director of Ayala Corporation and Head of Leasing and Hospitality at Ayala Land. “Spinneys adds a new dimension to grocery shopping, expanding local choice and enriching our retail landscape.”
The first Spinneys stores will open at Ayala Malls U.P. Town Center in Quezon City and San Antonio Plaza Arcade in Makati City, where they are set to become key lifestyle anchors—integrating seamlessly into Ayala Malls’ broader experience-driven environments.

The arrival reflects a shift in Filipino consumer tastes. As travel and global exposure shape expectations, shoppers are increasingly drawn to grocery spaces that mirror the quality, atmosphere, and ease found abroad. Spinneys responds to this demand with a premium yet approachable model—where everyday essentials meet thoughtful design and international standards.

Ayala Malls COO Paul Birkett, who spent years in Dubai, shared that Spinneys has long set the benchmark for premium grocery retail in the region. “We’re excited to bring that same experience home—globally inspired, yet rooted in local tastes.”
From curated imports and artisanal fresh selections to discovery-led service and contemporary store design, Spinneys brings with it a lifestyle approach to food retail—one that transforms routine shopping into something to look forward to.
Beyond retail, the partnership also reflects people connections. With over 1,300 Filipinos already part of Spinneys’ Gulf workforce, the venture opens new pathways for global expertise to return home and contribute to the local retail ecosystem.
