CEBU, PHILIPPINES – FWD Life Insurance (FWD Philippines), in partnership with Junior Achievement of the Philippines (JA Philippines), strengthened post-disaster recovery efforts in Cebu by supporting 170 students and their families at Lawaan III National High School in Talisay City, with the help of 50 FWD employee volunteers.

Talisay City and its riverside communities were among the hardest hit by the 2025 Cebu earthquake, Typhoon Tino, and subsequent flooding caused by the Mananga River. In response, FWD Philippines and JA Philippines dedicated a full day to rebuilding school facilities and uplifting the affected community, helping residents regain confidence as they move forward.

“By extending our reach to Cebu, we are deepening our commitment to be present in the communities we serve,” said Soon Liang Lau, President and Chief Executive Officer of FWD Philippines. “Helping rebuild school environments and championing financial literacy are meaningful ways we stand alongside Filipinos and contribute to long-term nation-building.”

The Community Care event, held on January 10, began with financial literacy sessions for Grades 7 to 10, emphasizing how mindset shapes personal goals, decision-making, and financial choices. Volunteers also took part in cleaning and restoring classrooms to create a safer, more conducive learning environment for students.

To further support education, FWD Philippines donated two bookshelves filled with financial literacy books, empowering students with knowledge to help them build more secure futures. In addition, the company distributed medicine, food packs, and hygiene kits to families, providing much-needed immediate relief.

As the insurer of the next generation, FWD Philippines continues to reaffirm its commitment to nation-building by expanding its community initiatives beyond Luzon—equipping Filipinos across the country with the financial tools, confidence, and knowledge they need to truly celebrate living.
