Manila, Philippines — January 23, 2026 — As the Philippines navigates a challenging economic period marked by slower GDP growth and rising fiscal pressures, Filipinos are responding with resilience, optimism, and a growing entrepreneurial mindset, according to a new survey by Herbalife.
The APAC Health & Economic Empowerment Survey 2025 reveals that while only 30% of Filipinos currently rate their financial well-being as good, an encouraging 74% expect their finances to improve within the next 12 months. This optimism is fueling practical lifestyle shifts, including cutting back on non-essential spending, learning investment skills, and exploring additional income opportunities.
To manage finances amid economic uncertainty, 57% of respondents reported reducing discretionary expenses, 40% are learning about investments, and 35% are considering entrepreneurial ventures. Some have made personal sacrifices, with 28% saying they skipped social gatherings in the past year to stay on budget.
Family remains the strongest motivator, with 73% of Filipinos citing loved ones as their main reason for pursuing financial goals. However, challenges persist—43% pointed to economic uncertainty, while 50% cited existing financial obligations as major hurdles.

The survey also highlights a clear confidence gap between entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs. Nearly 86% of Filipino entrepreneurs expect their financial situation to improve in the coming year, compared to 70% of non-entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs were also more likely to feel empowered in making financial decisions (69% vs. 50%) and reported better overall health and well-being (65% vs. 58%).
“Despite the common belief that entrepreneurship leads to stress and burnout, our findings show the opposite,” said Allan Domingo, General Manager of Herbalife Philippines. “Entrepreneurs demonstrate higher optimism, confidence, and empowerment. As Filipinos look for ways to support their families amid rising costs, entrepreneurship is becoming an increasingly attractive option.”
Beyond finances, the survey underscores the strong link between health and economic empowerment. While improving finances is a priority, 79% of respondents also expect better health in the next year, with 59% planning to exercise more—highlighting a growing focus on holistic well-being.
Commissioned by Herbalife in October 2025, the survey covered 8,505 respondents across 11 Asia-Pacific markets, including the Philippines. The findings point to increasing demand for education, wellness support, and income opportunities that help Filipinos build resilience and achieve their goals—even in uncertain times.
