AXA, a global leader in insurance, has unveiled Group Therapy, a 90-minute documentary with a simple but powerful message: sharing is therapeutic. More than just a film, it offers a “docu-therapy” experience that highlights the importance of opening up about mental health to begin the journey toward healing.
Hosted by award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris, the documentary features six renowned stand-up comedians—Mike Birbiglia, Nicole Byer, Gary Gulman, London Hughes, Tig Notaro, and Atsuko Okatsuka—who candidly share their personal mental health journeys. Their vulnerability aims to inspire viewers to talk about their own challenges and keep conversations about well-being alive.
The film is especially timely for the Philippines, where AXA’s 2025 Mind Health Report shows rising concerns over anxiety, depression, and stress, particularly among young adults. About 86% of Filipinos aged 18 to 24 report experiencing at least mild levels of anxiety, stress, or depression. Filipino youth are also more open to seeking peer support and using digital tools for self-help, highlighting the potential of community-driven mental wellness.
“Professional therapy, medication, and workshops remain vital, but community and connection are equally important for Filipino mental wellness,” said AXA Philippines CEO Ayman Kandil. “By normalizing these conversations, we can break down stigma and encourage more people to seek care.” He added, “Sharing these stories fosters understanding, compassion, and reminds people they are not alone.”
Group Therapy is a co-production between AXA and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions and is available for viewing on AXA Philippines’ YouTube channel here. For more on AXA’s commitment to holistic well-being, visit axa.com.ph.
