Filipino American hybrid artist Tata Taktumi, known professionally as Tata, has released her latest single, “Not So Bad,” through Pacific Music Group, marking another step in her emerging global music career.
Developed under the creative direction of multi-Grammy Award-winning producer Timbaland, the project explores the intersection of technology and artistry while emphasizing that creativity remains rooted in human expression.
At the center of “Not So Bad” are Tata’s vocals and performance, complemented by Timbaland’s production expertise and artistic vision. While the project has attracted attention for its use of emerging technologies, its creators stress that the music remains driven by real-life experiences, collaboration, and human creativity.
Tata’s journey began in the performance world as a dancer within the internationally renowned Jabbawockeez network. Recognizing her talent and creative potential, Timbaland helped expand her role beyond dance, encouraging her development as a vocalist and creative collaborator.
The result is an artist whose work combines performance, storytelling, and innovation.
For “Not So Bad,” artificial intelligence was used selectively as a creative tool for sound design and musical reinterpretation. According to the project team, AI helped transform and reimagine original human-created musical ideas into new textures and arrangements, while songwriting, artistic direction, performance decisions, and final production remained human-led.
The approach reflects Timbaland’s long-standing reputation for pushing creative boundaries. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with global stars including Rihanna, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Drake, consistently experimenting with new production techniques and technologies.
For Timbaland, AI represents another tool that can accelerate experimentation and unlock new creative possibilities without replacing artistic judgment, emotion, or authorship.
“It’s an honor to be working with one of the greatest producers while also shaping my artistry through this process,” Tata said.
“This project is built on real performance, collaboration, and creativity, with technology helping expand what we can imagine. I’m having fun creating and it inspires me.”
